Miriam Davis is a British concert violinist who has performed throughout the world as a soloist and chamber musician. Lately she has been featured by Classic FM and won 1st Prize in the Agiumus Padova International Competition 2021. Recently she has enjoyed performing as a soloist at Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Stoller Hall Manchester, Elgar Room - Royal Albert Hall London, Stavanger Konserthus Sommerkonsert Series, Temppeliaukio Church Helsinki, Parco Della Music Rome, St Martin in the Fields London, National Portrait Gallery London and Sage Gateshead Hall 1. Miriam is a prizewinner in numerous International competitions, including 1st Prizes from Grand Virtuoso International Competition with invitation to perform at Royal Albert Hall London, IMKA competition, North Online International Competition & Virtuoso Belcanto International Competition dedicated to Paganini. As concerto soloist she has performed with conductors such as Peter Szilvay and Oliver Weder. Festival performances include: Freedom Festival Hull, Stavanger Chamber Festival, Norwegian Youth Chamber Festival, Cheltenham and Lake District Music Festivals, Tunnell Trust Coll and Prussia Cove International Musician’s Seminar. Miriam currently collaborates in Violin/Piano Duo with renowned Jewish-American pianist, Michael Bulychev-Okser. She has also performed chamber music at festivals with eminent musicians such as Laura Mikkola, Jelger Blanken, Gabriele Ragghianti, Jan Bjoranger and Amaury Coeytaux. Miriam is a keen proponent of contemporary repertoire, including recently giving the Norwegian Premiere of Edward Cowie’s GAD for NyMusikk society in Norway. Miriam specialises in Romantic repertoire and performance style, adhering to a nostalgic concept of beautiful, old-school sound, combined with effortless virtuosity. 2022 sees concerts in Europe and USA, as well as the recording and release of her debut album on Avie Records, “Ode to Lost Time”. Since 2017 Miriam has studied with renowned French violinist, Philippe Graffin, including receiving her Artist Diploma at Hague Royal Conservatory in 2018. She has also made extended and Masters Degree study with notable musicians including Eszter Haffner, Jan Bjoranger, and Andras Keller at Liszt Academy Budapest. Miriam completed her undergraduate studies at Royal College of Music London, on a full scholarship. She has participated in masterclasses with Schlomo Mintz, Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, Pierre Amoyal, Felix Andrievsky, Viktor Tretyakov, Natalia Likhopoi, Kaija Saariaho, Benjamin Schmid, Gyorgy Pauk, Kolja Blacher, Keiko Wataya, Thomas Zehetmair, Amaury Coeytaux, Kungsbacka Trio, Hugh Bean, and Emanuel Hurwitz. Miriam is also a committed violin pedagogue of 15 years teaching experience, with current students including members of National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain. She is founder and artistic-director of the online music-academy launched in 2020: www.virtualvirtuoso.online. Miriam also has considerable orchestral experience, including winning a 1st Violin position in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 23 (with whom she worked for four years, and had the privilege to perform a full Mahler symphony cycle and record all of Shostakovich symphonies on Naxos with conductor Vasily Petrenko), and performs with Royal Northern Sinfonia, Oxford Philharmonic, London Chamber Orchestra, Aurora Chamber Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, & 1b1 Ensemble. In her early years, aged 12, Miriam performed as concertmaster of the National Children’s Orchestra in concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall. She also won 1st prize in the James Etherington music Competition. At the age of 13 she was accepted to the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, in which she went on to perform as assistant Concertmaster at the BBC proms in Royal Albert Hall London. ​​
